What is the Biological Age Calculator?
The Biological Age Calculator is an evidence-based wellness screening tool designed to estimate your physiological rate of aging. Unlike your chronological age, which measures how long you have been alive, your biological age reflects how well your cells, vascular system, organs, and metabolism are functioning.
This calculator computes your biological age by applying standardized, science-backed lifestyle and vital-marker age adjustments. Key inputs include body mass index (BMI), central adiposity (waist-to-height ratio), blood pressure, resting heart rate, sleep duration, exercise, steps, diet quality, smoking status, and alcohol intake.
By comparing your biological age to your chronological age, you can see if you are aging faster or slower than average. The results highlight modifiable risk areas and offer a roadmap to improve cellular longevity through physical conditioning, sleep hygiene, and nutrition.
How Does the Biological Age Calculator Work?
1. Configure Demographics — Enter your chronological age and select a metric or imperial unit toggle.
2. Autofill Health Profiles — Quickly prefill inputs using generic presets like 'Optimized Longevity Profile' or 'Accelerated Aging Profile'.
3. Input Vitals & Habits — Use range sliders for height, weight, waist size, steps, and weekly workouts; select BP, resting heart rate, and sleep hours from dropdowns.
4. Physiological Calculations — The algorithm calculates your BMI, waist-to-height ratio, and applies positive or negative age deltas based on public health risk associations.
5. Interactive Charts — View a vertical comparison bar graph and an aging pace dial gauge showing your longevity speed factor.
Formula & Calculation Method
Calculation Methodology:
The Biological Age is calculated by adding lifestyle and clinical age deltas to your chronological age, within bounds of -10 years (minimum) to +15 years (maximum):
$$ ext{Biological Age} = ext{Chronological Age} + sum ext{Pillar Age Deltas}$$
Pillar adjustments are configured as follows:
1. BMI Delta: 18.5–24.9 (-1 yr) | 25.0–29.9 (+1.5 yrs) | ≥30.0 (+3.5 yrs) | <18.5 (+1 yr).
2. Waist-to-Height Ratio (WHtR) Delta: <0.45 (-1.5 yrs) | 0.45–0.49 (-0.5 yr) | 0.50–0.59 (+1.5 yrs) | ≥0.60 (+4 yrs).
3. Blood Pressure Delta: Normal <120/80 mmHg (-1.5 yrs) | Elevated 120-129/<80 mmHg (0 yrs) | Stage 1 Hypertension (+1.5 yrs) | Stage 2 Hypertension (+4.5 yrs).
4. Resting Heart Rate Delta: <60 bpm (-1 yr) | 60–70 bpm (-0.5 yr) | 71–80 bpm (+0.5 yr) | >80 bpm (+2.5 yrs).
5. Weekly Exercise Delta: ≥300 mins (-2.5 yrs) | 150–299 mins (-1.5 yrs) | 90–149 mins (0 yrs) | <90 mins (+2 yrs).
6. Daily Steps Delta: ≥10,000 steps (-2 yrs) | 8,000–9,999 steps (-1 yr) | 5,000–7,999 steps (+0.5 yr) | <5,000 steps (+2.5 yrs).
7. Sleep Duration Delta: 7–8.5 hrs (-1.5 yrs) | 6–6.5 hrs (+0.5 yr) | <6 or >9 hrs (+2.5 yrs).
8. Diet Quality Delta: Mostly Whole Foods (-2 yrs) | Mixed (0 yrs) | Highly Processed (+3 yrs).
9. Smoking Delta: Never (-1 yr) | Former (+0.5 yr) | Active Smoker (+6 yrs).
10. Alcohol Delta: None / Moderate (-0.5 yr) | Occasional (+0.5 yr) | Heavy (+3.5 yrs).
